Director of Nursing Services Training
March 15, 2010 - March 19, 2010
7:30 AM

IHCA-ICAL Classroom
1524 W. Cayuse Creek Drive
Meridian, ID 83646

Experienced nursing administrators are performing with excellence and serve as leaders in long term care in Idaho. However, many registered nurses who are hired as directors of nursing in nursing homes are unaware of the knowledge and skills needed for the job. Registered nurses may lack the experiences and education that would prepare them for the challenges before them in long term care.

The turnover rate of directors of nursing in long term care facilities, although not specifically known, is very high. The role of director of nursing is complex and demanding. The long term care industry is highly regulated and requires that the nursing director become knowledgeable of the many rules and regulations that she or he will apply in addition to providing the leadership for nursing personnel.

THIS TRAINING IS APPROPRIATE FOR DIRECTORS OF NURSING, ASSISTANT DIRECTORS OF NURSING, NURSE SUPERVISORS, AND STAFF DEVELOPMENT COORDINATORS....

7:30 AM

IHCA-ICAL Classroom
1524 W. Cayuse Creek Drive

This training program was developed to help the licensed nurse who works in an assisted living facility to prepare for this area of practice. It is and has been recognized by personnel in Idaho’s State Department of Health and Welfare, Idaho Board of Nursing, administrators of assisted living facilities, members of the Idaho Health Care Association-Idaho Center for Assisted Living and members of the Idaho Nurses Association of Assisted Living that many nurses do not know the role and responsibilities of the licensed nurse working in assisted living. This kind of preparation is not part of the nurse’s basic education. Many nurses are hired part-time and are expected to know what to do from day one. The purpose of this training program is to prepare the licensed nurse with the knowledge, skills and, desirable attitude to be successful in this vital and growing industry.
